Who is Katherine Maher really working for?

There is no real surprise that the staff and reporters of National Public Radio (NPR), have a left-leaning tilt. Part of the Public Broadcast System that was created by Congress in 1967, NPR was founded in 1970 to provide in-depth news. Over the past decade, conservative and independents have been pushed out and the left-wing staff has become radicalized extremists.

To make matters worse, an American businesswoman, Katherine Maher (age 41) has become the CEO and President of NPR. A native of Connecticut, she graduated from the Arab Language Institute, Arabic Language Intensive Program in 2003. She followed with studies at the French Institute of Arab Studies in Damascus, Syria and then spent time in Lebanon and Tunisia. She had an internship with the Council of Foreign Relations during 2004 and 2005. She received a bachelor’s degree from New York University, in Middle Eastern and Islamic studies, in 2005.    

Maher has a long list of accolades from working at UNICEF, then with The National Democratic Institute, then at the World Bank. She became the chief communications officer in 2014 and later the CEO of Wikimedia in 2019. From 2022 – 2023 was a member of the U.S. State Department’s foreign affairs policy board. In January 2024, Maher became CEO and President of NPR. On the surface, the previous information shows a sharp and well-educated woman specializing in foreign affairs and management.  

Here is where the bells and whistles start going off. During the 2011 upheaval of the Arab Spring spreading from Egypt to Tunisia, Maher bounced back and forth working with activists in the countries undergoing U.S.-backed regime changes. Throughout this time Katherine Maher worked for the National Democratic Institute (NDI), an organization strongly tied to U.S. Intelligence and the Democratic Party foreign policy machine. According to security analyst J. Michael Waller the “NDI is an instrument of Samantha Power and the global revolution elements of the Obama team.” China has accused NDI of being a “second CIA.”   

In 2013-2014, she was an advocacy director with Access Now where she studied the impact of the laws regarding cybersecurity, morality, and defamation. Maher has expressed interest in digital currency inclusion. In a speech before the Atlantic Council, she talked about stopping disinformation and she said the First Amendment is the “number one challenge” in controlling content and disinformation.

In April 2024, NPR’s senior business editor Uri Berliner sounded the alarm by publishing in The Free Press an accusation of bias at NPR, with criticism about tweets made by Maher against Donald Trump in 2018 and her support of progressive policies. It’s apparent when you look at her affiliation as a member of Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum since 2016 and her work with NDI. Maher should be considered dangerous and should be scrutinized at every turn and with every action and word.
